Brown rice

PBA method: boil brown rice to get rid of arsenic, then cook as usual in the rice cooker.

Prepare a big pot of water, heat to boiling. The amount of water does not need to be accurately measured. The important thing is for there to be much more water than rice, to help leach out the arsenic. For me, it's about 3-4 quarts (liters) of water.

Wash and strain 405g uncooked brown rice.

Add the cleaned rice to the boiling water, boil for 5 minutes, uncovered.

Strain out the rice again, discarding the cooking water.

Put the rice into the rice cooker, add clean water to the "3" mark. Finish cooking in the rice cooker.

Cleaning: the scum that is left in the big pot can be scrubbed off with baking soda.
